2024: Smart Speaker Release on YaOS

In mid-August 2024, Yandex announced the YaOS operating system for smart devices. The first smart speaker based on this platform was the Max Station model (a version with an LED screen and an updated version with support for the Zigbee protocol).

YaOS  is a smart TV OS for TVs  and set-top boxes. Inside the YaOS platform, there is a virtual assistant who will find a movie on demand or advise any of the new products, help manage a smart home, entertain children or just chat with the user.

The OS is made on the basis of  Android, but the shell has been improved in Yandex. The vertical menu of the sections is located on the left. It begins with a "search," below are the main blocks of content. TV. Digital channels are divided into sections: federal, news, entertainment, children's, music, educational. Next comes the "catalog" with films, TV shows and cartoons. You can search for them by rating and category. The "music" category has playlists, podcasts and favorites from your favorite tracks.

According to Yandex, the new expanded catalog of Max Station contains more than 50 applications, including applications for popular online cinemas and video hosting. You can search for videos all over the content at once. For example, the device can show users where to watch the Russian comedy series "Cyber ​ ​ Village" or the latest episode of the music show "Muzloft."

Yandex clarified that users of Max Station with YaOS will receive a new interface for watching videos, more than 100 TV channels (including entertainment, information and sports), an expanded catalog of applications and personal recommendations for each family member. It is claimed to be the largest update to "Max Station" since the device went on sale.
