2024: Fake drugs caused the death of four children in the Krasnodar Territory
In July 2024, it became known about the tragic consequences of the spread of counterfeit drugs in the Krasnodar Territory. Four teenagers died as a result of poisoning with falsified drugs that were sold through a network of illegal pharmacies in the region.
According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, law enforcement agencies have revealed a large distribution channel for falsified medicines. During the investigation, it turned out that an organized criminal group was operating on the territory of the region, engaged in the illegal sale of anti-epileptic drugs.
The chain of illegal pharmacies, which numbered 41 points of sale, was organized by two brothers. Criminals strategically placed their outlets near educational institutions, which contributed to the attraction of young people. The sale was carried out without prescriptions and age restrictions, which led to the spread of dangerous substances among adolescents.
As a result of joint actions of the prosecutor's office of the Krasnodar Territory, U FSB Investigative Department of the UK Russia and the region managed to stop the activities of the criminal group. During the searches, more than 6 thousand blisters containing about 60 thousand capsules of falsified drugs were seized.
A criminal case has been initiated on this fact, within the framework of which 31 persons involved are taking place. The investigating authorities charged all suspects and chose preventive measures, including detention. The property and bank accounts of the members of the criminal group were seized in an amount exceeding ₽100 million.
The organizers of the criminal business - Peter and Andrei Osmanov, as well as the manager of the pharmacy chain Kristina Lutsenko - have been put on the wanted list. Law enforcement agencies urge citizens who have information about the whereabouts of wanted persons to report this to the investigating authorities.
Illegal pharmacies were found at 50 addresses, 19 of which were in Krasnodar. The remaining points were located in various cities and settlements of the region, including Ust-Labinsk, Kurganinsk, Absheronsk, Belorechensk, Tikhoretsk, the village of Tbilisi and the village of Mostovskaya.[1]
