2024: Senator from Kamchatka Territory Valery Ponomarev bought a stake in the First Negociant Wine House

In July 2024, it became known that the senator from the Kamchatka Territory Valery Ponomarev acquired a stake in the wine trading company First Negociant Wine House. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, a representative in the Federation Council became the owner of a 33% stake in an enterprise specializing in the trade in expensive alcohol.

According to Kommersant, Valery Ponomarev bought a stake previously owned by Zarema Sargsyan. At the same time, one of the founders of the company, the head of the Union of Sommeliers and Experts of Russia Arthur Sargsyan, resigned from the founders of the wine house. Artur Sargsyan confirmed this information, adding that the senator from the very beginning took part in the creation of this business.

Senator from Kamchatka bought a stake in a wine company

The "First Non-Socialist Wine House" was registered in Moscow in 2022. The company specializes in purchasing wines from Russian producers in order to further age them and sell them at a higher price. Such a business model is widespread in European wine regions such as Bordeaux and Burgundy in France as well as Italy.

Valery Ponomarev is known as a co-owner of the Okeanrybflot holding, which is engaged in the extraction of pollock, squid and herring. At the beginning of 2024, he also became the owner of the fishing companies Herring-D LLC and Herring-V LLC, which were previously part of the RRPK.

Investment in the wine industry is not limited only to the activities of the senator. His wife, Ekaterina Ponomareva, in February 2023 acquired a stake in Ordo, a grape growing company. In addition, at the end of 2023, she became the founder of the Azov Sparkling enterprise in Yeisk, Krasnodar Territory.

According to alcohol market experts, the cost of wine purchased and aged by the "First Negociant Wine House" can increase 100 times in ten years. This makes investments in this industry potentially highly profitable.[1]
