All schools and kindergartens of the Altai Republic are switching to the Russian OS Astra Linux

Educational institutions of the Altai Republic, including schools and kindergartens, are switching to the use of the domestic operating system Astra Linux. This became known in August 2024. This decision was made within the framework of a cooperation agreement concluded between the Ministry of Education and Science of the Altai Republic and the Astra Group.

According to the press service of Astra Group, the agreement is aimed at creating conditions for the introduction of the Russian operating system into the educational institutions of the region, as well as training qualified IT personnel to ensure the digital sovereignty of both the Altai Republic and Russia as a whole. More than 200 educational organizations in the region have already completed the transition to Astra Linux, and it is also planned to transfer more than 750 jobs of educational employees to this system.

Within the framework of this cooperation, measures are provided to train employees of the Altai Republic education system to work with Astra Linux and other software products of the company. These programs include courses for users and administrators, as well as webinars and practical classes on working with Russian-made office applications.

In addition to this, the Astra School project will be launched in the region, within the framework of which teachers will receive practical experience in working with domestic software.

Minister of Education and Science of the Altai Republic Olga Savrasova stressed that the transition to domestic software is an important step to improve the quality of education in the region. According to her, cooperation with Astra Group will significantly increase the level of digitalization and train specialists who can effectively work with Russian IT solutions.[1]
