2024: Conducting an audit
LogistiX conducted an audit and developed a project for an "ideal" warehouse complex for Makon, a supplier of lubricants, technical liquids, autosmetics and batteries in the Tver region. Thanks to this, the company will reduce unit costs for cargo processing by 2 times. LogistiX announced this on August 19, 2024.
The existing warehouse complex was operating at the limit of capabilities, and it became clear that its throughput would not be enough to process the planned volumes. Solutions were needed to support the growing business and ensure the efficient operation of the enterprise's warehouse.
The facility was a converted old building without heating with low ceilings and asphalt floors. Storage of goods was carried out on front racks and shelves, and all operations were carried out manually with minimal mechanization. Additionally, an open area for storing barrels of fuel and lubricants was used. Warehouse congestion and lack of automation created serious difficulties for effective management of commodity flows.
The LogistiX team had to evaluate the possibility of modernizing the warehouse and, if necessary, propose alternative solutions, including the search for a new warehouse or the construction of a new facility. The main task was to determine the optimal steps to ensure the development of the company and improve logistics processes.
The project started with a detailed audit of the warehouse complex, during which they analyzed the movement of goods, assessed the specifics of product groups and determined the current and future needs of the company. The results of the audit showed that no option to modernize the current facility will solve the company's tasks in the long term. Modernization can improve the situation only for 6-12 months, which is inappropriate from the point of view of investment. The search for another suitable site for the formed requirements did not give results, and a decision was made to build a new warehouse complex.
To design an "ideal" warehouse that takes into account all the features of the Macon business, LogistiX has developed a logistics concept for the facility. This included determining site area requirements, calculating investments and operating costs (CAPEX, OPEX), calculating requirements for process equipment and production personnel. In total, 32 layout technological solutions were developed for organizing a warehouse complex with a total area of 5100 to 7900 sq.m., of which the two most promising options were adopted by the customer: one with minimal investment costs, the other with minimal operating costs.
The project also included the preparation of a technical assignment with a plan for zoning and layout of a new warehouse for the construction design of a new warehouse. The implementation of the proposed design solutions will allow the company to rationally use the space and increase the efficiency of cargo processing in the warehouse system by 100%.
Upgrading the warehouse component of our business was a necessary step to maintain high standards of customer service. Together with LogistiX, we have developed a roadmap for changes and are systematically implementing them, which, of course, contributes to the development of the company and strengthening its position in the market, "said Sergey Sizov, head of the transport logistics department of TechnoOil LLC. |
