Implementation in OGK-4 of the international standard OHSAS 18001:2007

The Software AG & IDS Scheer company helped to implement the international standard OHSAS 18001:2007 "System of management of health protection and labor safety" with JSC The Fourth Wholesale Power Generating Company (OGK-4).

The largest in Russia on sales volume thermal wholesale generating company OGK-4 is a part of the German concern E.ON. Implementation of the standard on labor safety for 4500 employees of OGK-4 is dictated by the requirement of the corporate center E.ON for system implementation of management of the labor protection conforming to the OHSAS 18001 standard. Besides in the course of implementation of the standard as it always happens, the efficiency of a corporate system of management of labor protection increases.

Implementation of the international standard in the field of quality of management (ISO series) is, in many respects, an optimization of the corresponding business processes. Process requirements were put in international standards ten years ago.

The contractor for this project OGK-4 was selected according to the tender procedure. Experience of project implementation on implementation of the systems of management, existence of such experience in the power industry was considered. The Software AG & IDS Scheer company which also by right is considered the leader in the field of the process approach in management had all this.

Development of a modern system of management of health protection and labor safety was conducted within three months. Documents on a system include the policy of OGK-4 in the field of labor protection, organizational structure of the company on this activity, the purpose and the key indicators of effectiveness (KIE), the management and regulations in labor protection.

The developed system at first was implemented in executive office of the company and one of branches (Shaturskaya GRES). Then it was spread around on all branches OGK-4. Now consultants of Software AG & IDS Scheer book precertification audit of a system. Passing of the international audit on compliance to the OHSAS 18001 standard is planned for March, 2011.
