2024: Use in the RWT area

In the zone of a special military operation (SVO), Russia began to use FPV-drones "Wind" with elements of artificial intelligence (AI), capable of automatically attacking targets. This became known on August 6, 2024 from the message of the company-developer of unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to TASS, the new drones are equipped with an AI system that allows them to independently aim at a target without the participation of an operator. When an attack object is detected, a target designator appears on the screen, the target is captured, after which the drone autonomously moves towards it. This technology significantly increases the effectiveness of the use of drones in conditions of active counteraction of enemy electronic warfare.

Russia began to use FPV-drones "Wind" with AI elements capable of automatically attacking targets in the SVO zone

The development company emphasizes that the Wind FPV drones have successfully passed flight tests conducted by the Main Directorate for Innovative Development of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The test results are confirmed by the relevant protocols.

As of August 2024, the production of Vetrov has been established on an industrial scale. The monthly volume of supplies of these drones to the WVO zone reached 3 thousand units. The developers note that drones arrive at the front on an ongoing basis.

An important feature of the new FPV drones is the ability to launch and control them at a considerable distance from the operator. This is achieved through the use of special remote equipment - air or wire. This solution allows you to significantly increase the safety of personnel operating drones.

The FPV drone line "Wind" features two models: "Wind 10" and "Wind 13." The carrying capacity of the first is up to 3.5 kg, the second - up to 8 kg. Both modifications are capable of speeds up to 150 km/h and flights up to 20 km. The developers note that any of these models can be equipped with AI elements.[1]
