2024: Product Creation
A single digital geological model of Russia was created by scientists from Moscow State University. This became known at the end of August 2024. The model will become a key tool for solving problems in the field of geology, power and subsoil use, and will also contribute to the development of mining technologies in the country.
This model was presented by Antonina Stupakova, Director of the Institute for Advanced Oil and Gas Research at Moscow State University in Tatarstan. In her presentation, she stressed that Russia faces new challenges that require the joint efforts of geologists, mathematicians and specialists in the field of information technology. Stupakova noted that existing methods of studying geological structures often do not explain the distribution of hydrocarbons by area, which makes it necessary to create more accurate and comprehensive digital models.
The unified digital geological model of Russia makes it possible to study the geological section anywhere in the country and assess the potential of deposits, including hard-to-reach and hard-to-recover reserves.
We cut a layer that is associated with deep horizons. This is one of the most promising objects, especially for Tatarstan, where the reserves are similar to those in Western Siberia, - said Stupakova. |
The development of such a model was made possible by the use of advanced digital technologies and the integration of data from various sources. MSU scientists have also created the All-Russian Mygeomap database, which replaces foreign platforms and serves as an important tool for managing geological information. The platform was developed through international cooperation, and data for it was collected from around the world.
Antonina Stupakova also stressed that for the successful use of new technologies, it is necessary to develop the digitalization of geological data and create its own software that will be fully understood and controlled by Russian specialists.[1]
