Pioneer Drone Sim is a realistic FPV simulator designed to master and improve piloting skills, taking photos and videos without the risk of damaging the drone.

2025: Update with monitoring option for educator

On September 30, 2025, Geoskan Group of Companies announced the release of a major update to the Pioneer Drone Sim educational simulator for Geoskan Pioneer quadcopters.

According to the company, the program has been translated into a game engine with optimized graphics and flight physics. Among the key features are multiplayer with a leaderboard, step-by-step classes and an administrator panel for the teacher. Missions and assignments of varying complexity have been added to the FPV mode to practice general piloting skills in a secure digital environment.

The integrated training unit builds training from basic exercises in navigation mode to acro-aerobatics without stabilization. Built-in tooltips help you consolidate skills faster, and tasks can be repeated, which allows you to improve . A 'Mission' mode has emerged, each with spelled-out scenarios that consolidate proven piloting skills in a secure digital environment.

Multiplayer introduces competitions into educational practice. In the updated mode, you can conduct virtual races of students within the classroom and organize competitions between schools. Automatic recording of results in the leadership board increases sports interest. The administrator panel for the teacher allows you to create accounts, issue tasks and track progress.

Pioneer Drone Sim is part of the Geoscan Pioneer educational ecosystem, which includes training quadcopters, safe flight spaces, teaching materials, textbooks and digital tools for teaching and preparing for competitions. The simulator allows you to practice piloting, work with sensors and payloads and conduct races on FPV drones in digital space.

Controller and compatible radio control are supported, a choice of locations, time of day and weather conditions is available. These training tasks are provided by various modes: Acro is designed for training FPV flights and fully manual control, Navigation and AltHold are used for training - practicing accurate flights, holding altitude and position, completing route tasks, photo and video shooting, inspection of objects.

2024: Flight Simulator Test Launch

The Geoskan group of companies is launching open testing of a first-person flight simulator for educational quadcopters of the Geoskan Pioneer line. Until September 30, 2024, anyone will be able to train in piloting skills in the Pioneer Drone Sim program. Geoskan announced this on August 30, 2024.

The software presents two quadrocopters: Geoscan Pioneer Basic (with FPV module) and Geoscan Pioneer FPV. The first is suitable for teaching the basics of piloting, and the second is suitable for practicing tricks and new records on race tracks. The realism of the simulator is achieved through physics, repeating the parameters of drones of the Geoscan Pioneer line, and the use of a physical model of light propagation in space, which is used to draw flight locations. Users can choose territories, race tracks, flight missions, as well as time of day and weather conditions (wind, fog, rain). It is controlled by a controller or a compatible radio.

Three flight modes are available in the simulator. The Acro (Acrobatic) is characterized by fully manual control without stabilization and is suitable for racing, trick-taking and maneuvering. In Angle, piloting occurs smoothly due to stabilization along the horizon with limited inclination angles, this mode is provided for training novice BVS operators. PosHold (FullStab) provides stable flight without the need for constant adjustments by holding the drone position and altitude, it is designed to perform accurate maneuvers and shooting from a given position.

In the future, it is planned to improve the product, providing users with more opportunities to realize creative potential. For example, it will be possible to assemble its configurations of quadcopters with a payload compatible with the Geoskan Pioneer line, conduct online competitions, and create your own tracks. The feedback that we will receive as a result of testing will help add other interesting, demanded functions to the next updates, - said Arseny Afanasenko, head of the software development department at Geoskan Group.

Pioneer Drone Sim is compatible with the following operating systems: Windows 10, 11; Ubuntu 20.04.6, x64; Astra Linux SE 1.7.5, x64.
