2024: Starlink in 1,757 schools and 100% of textbooks electronically. How is the digitalization of schools in Kazakhstan
By September 1, 2024, Starlink satellite Internet operates in 1757 schools in Kazakhstan, thanks to which the connection speed has tripled. Another 122 educational institutions are working to provide Internet access. At the same time, the digitization of all textbooks has been completed, electronic versions of which are provided to schoolchildren on 11 different platforms. The digitalization of local schools is described in the materials of the Official Information Resource of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, published on August 31, 2024.
For the first time, first grade teachers will receive an Individual Development Map of the child, indicating the level of his skills and skills through the National Educational Database: it will help in determining the optimal trajectory of the student's education. In addition, the issue of introducing elements of artificial intelligence into the state compulsory standard of education is being worked out. From the 2024-2025 academic year, within the framework of the Digital Teacher project, work with students from low-income families will be intensified.
In 2024, 15 Kazakhstani universities are introducing Google courses on AI as part of the Generative AI initiative: 12 thousand students will be able to use this program. Two universities - KazNPU named after Abai and ARU named after Zhubanov - will take part in the pilot project Google for Education.
About 102 courses Coursera have been translated into Kazakh and Russian, and 2024 thousand licenses for Kazakhstani students from 40 universities have been allocated for 93. Students have gained access to more than 20,000 online courses and 4,200 AI courses from the world's leading universities.
