2024: Use in the RWT area

On September 2, 2024, it became known that the Russian military in the zone of a special military operation began to use a new domestic messenger developed by the Loktar team. This system, which has passed successful tests in combat conditions, is completely decentralized and operates without an Internet connection. The messenger provides the exchange of geodata and the transfer of information about the tactical situation, which makes it an indispensable tool on the front line.

According to Izvestia, the messenger was included in the Shorokh and Gran hardware and software systems. These systems, which are smartphone-walkie-talkie devices, allow you to exchange data through radio stations or closed Wi-Fi groups on radio bridges. Thanks to this, users can maintain communication even in the absence of an Internet connection, which is especially important for military operations.

The development, according to Izvestia, has built-in means of controlling the type of information transmitted depending on the bandwidth of the communication means used. This prevents channel congestion, which could lead to data loss or communication disruption. This functionality allows you to effectively use the messenger in real combat conditions, where communication stability is of paramount importance.

An important feature of the new messenger is its ability to quickly install and launch. According to the project representative, the installation kit is issued to the unit, and the command independently determines the scope of its use. The introduction of the messenger in the unit takes only a few days and does not require special training of personnel.

Since the launch of the messenger, representatives of various combat units of the Ministry of Defense National Guard of the Russian Federation and special services have joined the project, which indicates a high level of demand for the product. According to the developers, the messenger successfully functions even in difficult conditions of the war zone, where its use allows for significantly improved coordination and exchange of information between different units.[1]
