Appointment by the general director of the insurance company Rosgosstrakh Life

On September 5, 2024, the insurance company Rosgosstrakh Life announced the appointment of Valery Smirnov to the post of general director. His candidacy was approved by the Supervisory Board of the company and approved by the Central Bank of Russia. Smirnov joined the company at the time of its founding in 2019 and has since served as First Deputy General Director, overseeing the financial activities of the company.

According to Rosgosstrakh, Valery Smirnov, during his work at Rosgosstrakh Life, actively participated in the development of the business, responsible for its financial stability and dynamic development. In May 2024, he was appointed acting CEO and performed well in managing the company. During his time in the position, an effective system of financial and investment management was created, which allowed the company to demonstrate steady growth over the past years.

During the work of Smirnov, the company's fees increased almost 5 times and reached ₽66,1 billion at the end of 2023. The company ranked 4th in the life insurance market, rising 11 positions in the last five years. Return on equity (ROE) was 32%, one of the best performers on the market.

Strategic objectives facing Rosgosstrakh Life include increasing the pace of attracting clients to long-term investment and savings life insurance programs, maintaining a high level of sales and service, as well as expanding the client base. Smirnov will continue to work on the implementation of these tasks aimed at further strengthening the company's position in the life insurance market in Russia.

By September 2024, Valery Smirnov has more than 20 years of experience in leading positions in the financial sector, 10 of which he worked in the companies of the Otkritie Group and Rosgosstrakh^[1]
