2024: Product Release

On September 4, 2024, Butterfly Network announced the release of a portable ultrasound scanner iQ3, suitable, among other things, for assessing the condition of the lungs. The device, according to the developer, provides high image quality and advanced 3D capabilities.

The device is built on the basis of the Ultrasound-on-Chip technology of the new generation. A 17% reduced sensor work surface provides improved intercostal access for imaging of the heart and lungs. There are three customizable control buttons. The iQ3 ultrasound scanner has received an improved battery charging system, and the battery life reaches two hours.

The device has two new 3D visualization functions - iQ Slice and iQ Fan. In particular, the iQ Slice is the world's first automated sequential ultrasound mode on a portable device: the system directs a beam to scan an organ and capture up to 46 ultrasonic slices simultaneously at a wide angle. In turn, iQ Fan is a specialized lung tool that assists in making informed clinical decisions. The iQ Slice and iQ Fan tools complement Butterfly's extensive feature set of more than 20 anatomical presets, six imaging modes, and a range of artificial intelligence-based options.

The Butterfly iQ3 scanner is CE marked, certified under European Union the Medical Devices Regulation (EU MDR) and fully complies with the Hazardous Substances Restriction Directive (RoHS).
