2024: Presentation of the complex for designing antenna systems
Scientists at MPEI have developed a software package for designing antenna systems used for space exploration and satellite communications. The university announced this on September 11, 2024.
The introduction of this development into the system design process space communications will increase the performance of the antennas of space systems, in particular directional and amplification factors, reliability and resistance to the influence of space noise on the sounding signal and the impact of negative environmental conditions for the propagation of sounding and information signals.
The principle of operation of the complex is based on the use of a genetic algorithm. The key task of this method is to make individual antenna complexes, interactions with each other, increase the maximum power of the transmitted signal and increase the sensitivity of the system to the receiving signal. For this, the necessary positions of antenna complexes and the geometric dimensions of the antennas themselves are selected. The development was carried out in order to increase the accuracy and range of radio telescopes, as well as for the needs of satellite communications and navigation companies.
Our scientists managed to develop a software complex for calculating and optimizing antennas, which makes it possible to improve the interaction of antenna systems by an order of magnitude and strengthen their directional properties. The software complex allows you to develop space communication systems and radio telescopes operating over long distances while maintaining a high level of reliability of the system, "said Nikolai Rogalev, rector of MPEI. |
Thanks to the implementation of this development, it is possible to increase the accuracy of radar systems operating in near and deep space. The advantage obtained with the software product can be used to minimize the probability of collision of launched spacecraft with space debris located near orbits, as well as to study the properties and physical phenomena of planets and deep space objects
The software complex for calculating and optimizing antenna systems of space communication was developed by employees of the Department of Radio Engineering Devices and Antenna Systems of the National Research University "MPEI" under the guidance of K. so-called, Associate Professor Mikhail Mikhailov.
