2024: Product Announcement

Russian inventor and watchmaker Konstantin Chaikin in September 2024 presented the world with a unique mechanical watch called ThinKing, which has become the thinnest in the world. Their case is only 1.65 mm thick, making this a record in the watch industry.

ThinKing hours, in addition to their incredibly small thickness, also differ in their lightness - their weight is only 13.3 grams. The case is made of stainless steel with a diameter of 40 mm, which gives the watch an elegant and modern look. The sapphire glasses used in the watch are only 0.35 mm thick and have a diameter of 10.4 mm. According to the publication, the clock range is 32 hours, and the display of hours and minutes takes place on separate dials, which is typical for other Chaikin models.

Konstantin Chaikin shared the story of the creation of these unique watches. According to him, the idea of creating an ultra-thin mechanical watch arose in 2023, when one of his clients asked if he could develop a similar mechanism. Inspired by the idea, Chaikin began to study historical examples of subtle clockwork, such as Auguste Golay's millimeter mechanism. The project required a lot of research and development, but in the end a ThinKing prototype was created, which turned out to be thinner than the previous record holder - the Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC model from Bulgari, released in April 2024.

As of September 2024, according to hi-tech, ThinKing exists only in the form of a prototype, and the serial release or cost of this model has not yet been reported. However, already now the clock of Konstantin Chaikin has become an important milestone in the history of watchmaking, continuing the long-standing tradition of the race to create the thinnest mechanical watches in the world.[1]
