Digital twins of children

2024: Digital child doubles may appear in China

Digital twins actively used in industries order to increase efficiency of production processes. Virtual copies of humans do not yet exist, but scientists are working on it. Such avatars will allow you to predict diseases and prevent them. The press service of the Forum of the Future BRICS announced this on September 18, 2024.

China plans to create digital twins of children

Chinese researchers plan to create digital twins of children in the near future. This was told by Nicholas Yu, executive director of the Guangzhou Institute of Urban Innovation.

During the covid pandemic in China, a digital system was developed to protect pregnant women from the virus. They underwent all medical tests at home, information was transmitted to the cloud, and artificial intelligence analyzed it for an abnormality and, if necessary, gave a signal that a doctor should be consulted.

The system created during the covid pandemic was adapted to monitor the condition of mothers and newborn children for anomalies. The next step is to create a "digital twin" for each child based on our developments. Sounds like fantasy, but we're already doing product modeling. It will be necessary to upload data on the child's health to such a system every year, and if the "digital double" detects the problem, then he will notify the parents, - said Nicholas Yu.

It is planned that the virtual copy will grow a year faster than a real child. So if a digital avatar has health problems, parents will know what measures to take now to avoid problems in a year's time.

This innovation will help us create a disease prediction and prevention system. The emergence of digital twins can truly change the health and well-being of the population of many countries. And of course, for fiction to become a reality, cooperation of all interested parties, including parents, is required, "said Nicholas Yu.
