2023: Sales of fire extinguishers in Russia increased by 1.1% to 1.81 million units

In 2023, sales of fire extinguishers in Russia reached 1.81 million units. For comparison, 1.79 million products were sold a year earlier. Thus, an increase of about 1.1% was recorded. The positive dynamics is due to the revival of business activity in the country and the restoration of the purchasing power of the population. This is stated in the review of BusinesStat, published in mid-September 2024.

The study takes into account fire extinguishers of various types - water, air-emulsion, powder, gas, freon, etc. Among the leading enterprises of the industry are named LLC "Holding USC Group," LLC "Epotos-K," JSC "Source Plus," JSC SPC "Mountain Rescue Technologies" and LLC "Innovative Fire Safety Systems."

In 2019, approximately 2.05 million fire extinguishers were sold in the Russian Federation. In 2020, there was a 14.7% reduction to 1.75 million units. Against the background of restrictions and crisis phenomena caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, most consumers postponed the planned replacement of fire extinguishers, purchasing products only if they failed. In 2021, there was an increase of 12.6% with a final result of 1.97 million units, but in 2022, due to the worsening geopolitical situation, a decline of 9.1% followed. At the same time, the largest decline was observed in the automotive fire extinguishers market. Due to the sanctions, the supply of new imported machines was hampered and the production of domestic ones, which were equipped with fire extinguishers, was suspended. In addition, in September 2022, the requirement for the mandatory presence of a fire extinguisher in a car during a technical inspection was canceled.

The main problem of the industry analysts call falsification of products. Unscrupulous manufacturers are deliberately engaged in the production of such products, reducing costs and increasing their profits. For example, the practice of filling powder fire extinguishers with sand and other substances that have nothing to do with fire extinguishing powder is common.[1]
