2024: Product Announcement

In mid-September 2024, Femasys announced the launch of the FemChec contrast device for checking the condition of fallopian pipes without surgery.

Femasys from Atlanta (USA) has developed a FemChec device for controlled delivery of natural contrast to fallopian tubes during ultrasound. In this procedure, physiological saline and air are alternately introduced into the fallopian tubes in a continuous flow of contrast medium, and the FemChec device used together with the intrauterine catheter allows the control of the supply of contrast medium.

Device for checking the condition of fallopian tubes without surgery

It is known that Femasys intends to use the FemCheck device as a confirmation test for the procedure of nonsurgical blockade of the fallopian tubes for the purpose of contraception FemBloc. In this procedure, an implant in the form of a biopolymer is inserted into the fallopian tubes through balloon catheters. Once the biopolymer touches the tissue of the tubes, it hardens, triggering the process of scar tissue formation. Such scar tissue makes the fallopian tubes impassable, and the biopolymer disintegrates and is excreted from the body.

FemChec is an integral part of our set of products to protect women's health, said Femasys CEO Kathie-Lee Sepsik in a press release. - In particular, FemChec is a key element of our non-surgical contraceptive solution FemBloc. The FemChec device allows the doctor to confirm the success of the procedure using natural contrast and ultrasound. Unlike the conventional technique, in this case, the patient does not need a referral to the radiologist, does not use a radiopaque dye, and the woman is not subjected to unjustified radiation.[1]
