2024: System Announcement
In early October 2024, Harvard University announced the development of a system called I-Xray based on smart glasses, which is capable of instantly issuing personal data of people entering the field of vision of the built-in camera. Detailed personal information can then be viewed in the app on your smartphone.
The decision Ray-Ban is based on the company's glasses (Meta recognized as an extremist organization; activities in the territory of the Russian Federation are prohibited). This gadget, worth $379, features an ultra-wide-angle optics camera. Images of people caught in the lens are processed using a public one software on the face recognition base. artificial intelligence Next, information is searched on the Internet and in all kinds of databases. Then a large language model (LLM) comes into play, which analyzes the available information and forms a digital dossier on a person.
The profile created as a result includes a variety of information: these are names, addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, data of next of kin, and much more. This whole process takes only a few seconds - from discreet shooting with a glasses camera to displaying detailed personal data on the smartphone screen.
Such technologies, as noted, can be used for various criminal purposes. For example, attackers can use the system to gain trust in the victim and implement some kind of fraudulent scheme. The authors of I-Xray say their goal was to show how dangerous AI technologies can be. The developers also released a guide to removing personal information from databases that are used to form a dossier in I-Xray.[1]
