2024: Market Entry
In early October 2024, the California company OrthAlign received permission to sell the Lantern Hip portable device for accurate hip replacement.
According to OrthAlign, the Lantern Hip device enhances usability and improves the outcomes of total hip replacement in supine patients. This device complements the Lantern platform, which also includes applications for total knee endoprosthesis, revision knee endoprosthesis, and partial knee endoprosthesis.
OrthAlign said the Lantern Hip has become an improved version of HipAlign, complete with next-generation accelerometers and gyroscopes. It provides workflow optimization, real-time navigation and precise tool positioning, as well as leg displacement regulation. The technology allows you to individually position the acetabulum of the hip joint, comparing its projections in several planes. These include the functional pelvic plane, the anterior pelvic plane, and the frontal pelvic plane.
OrthAlign developed the Lantern Hip to replace preoperative imaging and sophisticated hardware. The device is compatible with most implant systems, allowing it to be used in any outpatient surgical center.
Adding a total hip replacement device to the Lantern platform is an improvement that not only expands our capabilities but also demonstrates our commitment to innovative solutions, "noted Eric Timko, OrthAlign Chairman and CEO. - Such technologies are becoming the standard of care for total endoprosthetics, and it is extremely important for manufacturers to offer clinically, promptly and cost-effective solutions to patients and doctors[1] |
