2024: Implementation of RT.DataGovernance

TData has implemented RT.DataGovernance (DG) in EVRAZ. The product helped streamline data operations, provided control over manufacturing processes, and doubled the development of production metrics, which significantly reduced the company's financial costs for these processes. Rostelecom announced this on October 15, 2024.

The EVRAZ project team was tasked with unifying performance across divisions within the framework of the Unified Performance System (EPP) program. In particular, ore mining and mining operations, including steel smelting and steel production, fell into the perimeter of the project. It was also necessary to streamline the interaction between data owners, business users and IT specialists. To achieve this goal, it was necessary to combine the requirements of all users, fix the algorithms for calculating indicators and establish data sources and aggregation rules.

After the implementation of RT.DataGovernance, EVRAZ can fully control production processes using analytical dashboards that visualize key indicators and their changes. In addition, the company has doubled the development of production indicators and reduced the cost of these processes.

RT.DataGovernance has made it much easier to collect requirements and develop metrics. The system records the information from which reports are generated for operational management. This helps to assess the number of indicators on dashboards, the degree of readiness of their descriptions, the status of sources and expectations of innovations. For the convenience of users, the transition from ESPP dashboards to the description of indicators in the business glossary has been implemented, which improves navigation. Integration with a DataCatalog containing source metadata allows you to view data sources and build a DataLineage.

As of October 2024, more than 9,000 production indicators have been entered into the system, of which 3,000 already contain a detailed description. The development of new indicators is carried out exclusively in the context of updating data in RT.DataGovernance, which allows you to lay the foundation for the application of the product in other business functions and data domains.
