2024: Dismissal of management after identifying fake disabilities in 4 thousand officials

On October 22, 2024, it became known that the leadership of the Central Medical and Social Expert Commission of Ukraine was removed from office after a large-scale audit, which revealed more than 4 thousand fictitious conclusions about disability. At the same time, the heads of the relevant department of the Ministry of Health, which coordinated the activities of the commission, were dismissed.

According to TASS, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal announced plans to completely eliminate the existing medical and social expert commissions by the end of 2024. In their place, it is planned to create a new digital examination system according to the European model.

The head of the security service of Ukraine, Vasily Malyuk, said that as a result of an audit of the activities of the centers of the Central Medical and Social Expert Commission, 64 officials were charged. The audit was carried out as part of a campaign to tighten mobilization.

The president UkraineVolodymyr Zelensky signed a decree according to which the Ministry of Health, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Security Service of Ukraine, the national police and military administrations must form special working groups. Within a week, they will have to check all the decisions of the Central Medical and Social Expert Commission on the provision of disability to military citizens.

The Minister of Health was instructed to submit to the Cabinet of Ministers all the necessary regulatory documents and bills to complete the reform of the medical and social expertise system by November 1, 2024.

An investigation into the facts of illegal receipt of disability by officials continues. Inspections cover 2.4 thousand people. Against the background of the scandal, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin left the post.[1]
