2024: Sentence - 13.5 years in a maximum security colony for trying to transfer classified information to the CIA

On October 29, 2024, the Moscow City Court sentenced IT specialist Firuz Dadoboev, who was detained for trying to transfer classified data to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He received 13.5 years in prison for treason in favor of the United States.

Dadoboev, born in 1977, worked as an IT specialist in one of the capital's commercial companies (which one is not specified). According to RBC, the man is a native of Tajikistan and has dual citizenship.

The moment of detention of Firuz Dadoboev

According to the FSB, Dadoboev was arrested in October 2022. It was established that he illegally received information constituting a state secret. According to the case file, guided by criminal intent, Dadoboev intended to transfer this information to a representative of American intelligence, for which he established contact with the CIA. But as a result of the operational-search measures carried out, the man was detained. By a resolution of the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow, the suspect was sent to custody.

The investigative unit UFSB Russia for the city To Moscow and the Moscow region initiated and investigated a criminal case under Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of Russia - high treason. Such acts are punishable by imprisonment for a term of twelve to twenty years with a fine of up to five hundred thousand rubles or in the amount of the salary or other income of the convicted person for a period of up to three years or without it and with restriction of freedom for a term of up to two years or life imprisonment.

It is noted that Dadoboev pleaded guilty and repented of his deed. The court sentenced him to 13 years and 6 months in prison with serving a sentence in a maximum security colony. In addition, the man will have to pay a fine of 300 thousand rubles.[1]
