City buses in Russia began to be equipped with cameras to record traffic violations. Fines to drivers are already coming

Customers: Kaliningrad-Gor Trans

Contractors: Rostelecom

Project date: 2024/10

In Russia, they began to be equipped with cameras to record violations of traffic rules (SDA). Fines to drivers have already begun to come. This became known at the end of October 2024 as part of the testing of mobile complexes organized by Rostelecom.

According to the press service of Rostelecom, testing of mobile complexes for photo and video recording of traffic violations began in Kaliningrad. On two city buses running along route No. 7, devices were installed to register non-compliance with vehicle parking rules. These devices record violations such as parking under prohibition signs, parking in stopping pockets, on lawns and sidewalks, as well as driving along a lane intended for route vehicles.

According to Denis Mchedlishvili, director of applied projects at the Kaliningrad branch of PJSC Rostelecom, photo and video recording technology significantly reduces the number of violations on the roads and improves control over compliance with traffic rules. The mobile complex is included in the register of Russian software and can be integrated with administrative systems that are used throughout Russia. In addition, the devices can be connected to specialized accounts of internal affairs bodies, which allows more efficient use of violation data.

The complex installed in buses includes a computer with software, mobile communication modules, a monitor with a touch control panel and two video cameras. The uninterruptible power supply ensures stable operation of the system even in case of emergency outages. According to experts, the device can record a violation and create an evidence base in just one second, after which the data is stored on a local medium on the bus for 12 hours and unloaded through secure mobile communication channels.

For the convenience and safety of drivers, the device was placed in the bus without distracting them from the main task. The installation process takes no more than 10 minutes, which allows you to quickly install equipment on other vehicles.[1]
