2024: Sentence - 6.5 years imprisonment for embezzlement of client funds
On November 6, 2024, the Kalininsky District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced the former manager of one of the large banks, Mikhail Vlasenko. He received 6.5 years in prison for embezzlement of tens of millions of rubles from clients of a credit institution.
According to the case file, Vlasenko held the position of personal manager of the retail sales and customer service department in one of the banks in St. Petersburg. The name of the financial organization is not specified - according to Fontanka, the man worked at Promsvyazbank. The investigation established that in the period from August 2022 to March 2023, Vlasenko, using the data of individuals who were available to him in connection with the implementation of official activities, transferred their funds to the accounts of people unaware of his criminal activities. At the same time, the fraudster forged customer signatures in administrative documents.
Three people were injured from the actions of the attacker: the total amount of damage is estimated at 33 million rubles. Vlasenko spent the stolen money on repaying his own loan, gifts for his girlfriend, joint leisure and entertainment, buying branded things and expensive gadgets, as well as trips to elite resorts and business class flights.
The former manager of Promsvyazbank was found guilty under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - fraud on an especially large scale. Such acts are punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles or in the amount of the convict's salary or other income for a period of up to three years or without it and with restriction of freedom for up to two years or without it. Vlasenko, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 6 years and 6 months with serving in a general regime correctional colony.[1]
