2024: Accountant sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for embezzlement of ₽47 million
At the end of November 2024, the Svetloyarsky District Court of the Volgograd Region sentenced the former accountant of the Volgograd Medical and Environmental College for embezzlement of budget funds on an especially large scale in the amount of more than ₽47 million. The defendant was sentenced to three years and six months in prison in a general regime colony. The state prosecution in court was supported by the deputy prosecutor of the Svetloyarsky district of the Volgograd region Saglara Pronkaev.
According to the information telegram channel of the prosecutor's office of the Volgograd region, a woman from 2015 to 2022, using her official position, illegally transferred funds to her children's bank cards in the form of wages, bonuses and various benefits. At the same time, her relatives were actually not employees of the educational institution.
As a result of the unlawful actions of the accused state, damage was caused on an especially large scale.
The criminal case was initiated based on the results of a prosecutor's check in the Svetloyarsky district. The defendant was charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale using his official position).
During the investigation, a complex scheme of embezzlement of budget funds was established, implemented through the system of calculating fictitious payments. The defendant used her access to the institution's financial records to create fake payslips and bonus orders.
The verdict has not yet entered into force. The parties retain the opportunity to appeal it on appeal within the time limits established by law.[1]
