2024: Russian President Vladimir Putin approves new composition of the Human Rights Council
On December 4, 2024, the Russian leader Vladimir Putin approved the new composition of the Presidential Council RUSSIAN FEDERATION for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights. It includes three new members and excluded four.
In particular, the president of the Moscow branch of the International Academy of Architecture Andrei Bokov, a member of the presidium of the Free Donbass movement Elena Shishkina, president of the all-Russian association of trade unions Confederation of Labor of Russia Boris Kravchenko, and the president of the regional public fund for combating organized crime and corruption "Antimafia" Yevgeny Myslovsky dropped out of the council. The members of the Council included:
- Journalist, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Alexander Malkevich;
- Chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia Sergey Chernogaev;
- Rector of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" Nikita Anisimov.
Commenting on the new appointment, Anisimov noted the following: We at the Higher School of Economics consider our task, first of all, expert support for the work of the Human Rights Council, both in matters related to improving the efficiency of the science and education system (here the HSE is one of the national leaders), and in the development of civil society institutions and the protection of citizens' rights. I am sure that we will have very high-quality and productive cooperation that will benefit the whole country. |
The task of the Council is to assist the President in the implementation of his constitutional powers in the field of ensuring and protecting human and civil rights and freedoms, to inform about the state of affairs in this area, to promote the development of civil society institutions, as well as to prepare proposals in relevant areas.[1]
