2024: Launching
At Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant St. Petersburg the beginning of December 2024, the ceremony of launching the medium-sized marine tanker Engineer-Admiral Kotov, built for, took place. Navy Russia The vessel became the third tanker of a unique project that has no analogues in the country.
The tanker is designed to store and transport various types of fuel - fuel oil, diesel fuel, engine oil, kerosene, as well as fresh water. The vessel has the ability to transport dry goods, including equipment and food.
InThe Chief of the Auxiliary Fleet Service of the High Command of the Navy, Captain 1st Rank Anzor Dundamaev, emphasized the particular importance of the tanker for the Navy. The advantage of these tankers is the ability to simultaneously refuel three ships on the go. Its main purpose is to ensure the long-range campaigns of ships in the far ocean and sea zones, - said the military leader. |
The tanker is capable of transferring and receiving liquid cargo without mooring, providing simultaneous refueling of three vessels located at a distance of 50 to 100 meters, both onboard and wake. The vessel became the largest in the entire 111-year history of the plant.
The tanker was named after the hereditary shipbuilder Pavel Kotov, who participated in the development of the nuclear missile cruiser Peter the Great and the world's largest strategic nuclear submarine Typhoon. His grandfather took part in the construction of the cruiser Aurora, and his father worked on the creation of battleships for the Baltic Fleet.[1]
