2024: Sentence - 7 years in prison for the theft of retail space in the shopping center for ₽460 million
In December 2024, the Basmanny Court of Moscow sentenced Denis Mayakov, the former head of the Imagine Estate holding, to seven years in a general regime colony and a fine of ₽1 million for fraud with retail space in the Metromall shopping center worth more than ₽460 million.
According to TASS, former top manager Olga Voronetskaya and director of the Moscow Automobile Unit Plant CJSC Andrei Novikov, who received three and five years in prison, respectively, were convicted in the same case. Voronetskaya was granted a reprieve until her child reached the age of 14.
Judge Natalia Dudar ordered Mayakov to be taken into custody in the courtroom. Voronetskaya was also fined ₽700 thousand, Novikov - ₽800 thousand. All persons involved in the case pleaded not guilty and insisted on acquittal, being under recognizance not to leave.
According to the case file, Mayakov deceived the owners of AVERS M CJSC and businessman Anton Agafonov, who owned 770 sq. m of space in the Metromall-2 shopping center on Dmitrovskoye Shosse. In 2014, the accused, together with Olga Voronetskaya, appointed to the post of general director of ZAO, offered shareholders to sell the space in the shopping center.
The cost of the facilities was estimated at more than $6 million, but the amount of about $3.9 million was indicated in the prepared agreement. At the same time, the document did not provide for collateral, and the property was transferred to the new owner - Torgned LLC controlled by Mayakov - for $500 thousand.
The state prosecutor requested nine years in prison for Mayakov, four years for Voronetskaya, and six years in prison for Novikov. The verdict did not enter into legal force and can be appealed to the appellate instance of the Moscow City Court.
The defendants were also accused of fraud in the sale of the premises of the former Moscow plant of automobile units, which was taken into account by the court when passing the final verdict by partial addition of punishments.[1]
