CIT of Tatarstan defended its web applications using the ProWAF platform from Webmonitorex. This was announced on December 11, 2024 by representatives of Webmonitorex.

As reported, the Center for Information Technologies (CIT) of the Republic of Tatarstan regularly implements large-scale and socially significant projects in the field of informatization. One of them is information support for the Electronic Tatarstan project, designed, among other things, to provide citizens and organizations with access to state, municipal and socially significant services. The Webmonitorex platform ensured the protection of all sensitive data of this project, as well as other web applications and services of CIT of the Republic of Tatarstan.

CIT of the Republic of Tatarstan is faced with the need to ensure the security of its web applications and services. The resources of CIT and its customers are regularly subjected to massive DDoS attacks and targeted attacks on web applications, which is a serious threat and requires immediate measures to protect them.

When choosing a security solution for web applications, CIT identified several key criteria. Important factors were:

• Ease and speed of implementation;
• Ability to handle large amounts of traffic;
• Ability to work with disparate systems.

The ProWAF product, which is part of the Webmonitorex platform, met all the criteria and showed itself. The ability to handle a large amount of traffic was also one of the possibilities of the solution and was an important factor in choosing a vendor in the context of the CIT infrastructure.

The ProWAF product protected information from unauthorized access and leaks, which ensured the security of personal data of citizens and state information.

The introduction of ProWAF from Webmonitorex was carried out quickly and without complex procedures, which minimized downtime and made it possible to quickly respond to threats. The product easily integrated with existing balancers without reducing infrastructure reliability. It also supported the dynamic growth of systems without the need for license expansion or shutdown.

The intuitive process of installing and configuring the ProWAF product made it possible to quickly block attacks, from the moment there is no protection until all components are fully installed.

Webmonitorex products used by CIT of the Republic of Tatarstan protect web resources that provide important municipal and socially significant services. One of these resources includes more than 300 components, including websites of authorities, municipalities and other important social services. The introduction of ProWAF was carried out directly during the massive DDoS attack, which made it possible to quickly neutralize threats and ensure uninterrupted operation of applications.

The ProWAF product played a major role in protecting this event. It made it possible to effectively identify and block many sources of attacks. Thanks to this, it was also possible to quickly neutralize DDoS attacks and organize the secure operation of the forum's web resources.

In 2024, Webmonitorex's ProWAF provided protection at an international multi-sports event, becoming a key element of the event's comprehensive security. Thanks to this product, attackers' attacks on protected web applications were successfully neutralized, which ensured the continuous operation of the event services. Except moreover, this made it possible to form reporting documentation on attacks on services. The ease of implementation made it possible to quickly deploy ProWAF on a large number of services.

The main capabilities of this solution are the reliability and effectiveness of combating various threats, including DDoS attacks and attacks at the web application level. In addition, ProWAF makes it possible to quickly integrate web resources without significant delays, which is especially important for adapting protection to the changing needs of the organization. The process of installing and managing nodes also turned out to be simple and constructive, which contributed to increased security and ensured optimal fault tolerance of the system.

The ProWAF product Webmonitorex met the requirements of CIT of the Republic of Tatarstan to ensure information security, as well as ensured ease of use and integration.
