2024: Implementation of ConsID WMS
A large producer of dairy products in Russia Lactalis (Lactalis Vostok, brands President, Sandal, Parmalat and others) is transferring its warehouses to the management of Consid.WMS. The decision to change the warehouse system was made as soon as possible due to the departure from the Russian market of the global vendor - the supplier of the current WMS solution. Consid Technology (ConsID) announced this on December 19, 2024.
Lactalis made its choice in favor of Consid.WMS due to the extremely tight deadlines for the development of the required functionality and the implementation of the system in a warehouse on the territory of a dairy plant in the Moscow region. The Consid team has extensive experience in implementing projects to quickly transfer warehouse networks from foreign software from Russian manufacturers and food retailers. For a minimum period, it was necessary not only to implement the complex and extensive functionality of the old WMS system, but also to develop new functionality, as well as to solve warehouse problems uncovered by the previous solution supplier.
The logistics site of the first Lactalis warehouse facility with a total area of 8,000 square meters. m is three interconnected warehouses: a warm warehouse, a refrigerated product warehouse and a robotic warehouse, each of which has its own specifics. All of them are characterized by high turnover and a large number of products with short shelf life. Goods acceptance flows are divided into external deliveries, returns and receipt from production. The goods are placed in all three warehouses depending on the layout strategy matrix. Replenishment and selection are carried out in only one warehouse. At the same time, due to a significant shortage of the selection zone (picking), the task was to develop and configure the functionality of virtual replenishment, optimization of picking and removal operations of unclaimed goods.
and Algorithms reservations palletizing were visualized in the system and placed into settings. Customer administrators can customize strategies for each ship-to party in Consid.WMS, depending on their requirements: order assembly or multipicking, restrictions on high-temperature and sampling units (piece, box, layer, pallet), by the number of articles and the number of orders on the pallet, by layers and columns, etc. For flexibility and speed of administration, most of the necessary changes in algorithms and strategies were made to the visual settings of the WMS system. Special attention was paid to working with the quality of the inventory. The need to work with quarantine, temperature conditions and many locks on stock lots allows you to flexibly manage processes and ensure the necessary quality required by the final customer.
Implementation at the pilot site took place with a high intensity of supplies from third-party dairies and continuous withdrawal of goods from production. 24 * 7 round-the-clock launch mode (warehouse operation in 4 shifts) and the impossibility of a significant decrease in the number of shipments did not prevent the successful launch of the facility in the new warehouse system Consid.WMS in 2 weeks. The company plans to scale the system to other warehouse facilities.
