2024: Intermediate results of the transition to domestic software
The Nizhny Tagil Technological Institute (branch) of the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin (UrFU) on December 24, 2024 shared the interim results of migration from Western solutions to domestic software developed by Astra Group. As part of the import substitution project, the university chose the Astra Linux operating system and the ALD Pro catalog service as key components of its IT infrastructure.
The transition to Astra Linux and ALD Pro will ensure the safety and independence of the educational process, as well as more efficient use of resources, supporting domestic developers. The first stage of migration to Russian software was realized thanks to the active contribution of Astra Group employees, who provided round-the-clock technical support at all levels of the project. To simplify and speed up the adaptation of university employees to new conditions, methodological materials and instructions for using the operating system were developed. The institute plans to further expand the import substitution project, including the acquisition of software products from the Astra Group portfolio. As of December 2024, pilot testing is underway for VMmanager and DCImanager infrastructure platforms, Termidesk VDI solutions and RuBackup data backup and recovery system.
Astra Group is also actively developing an educational unit represented by the Astra University and Astra College projects aimed at training specialists who have the skills to administer domestic software. In 2025, the first training center under the auspices of the vendor will open in Nizhny Tagil, which will contribute to advanced training in the field of information technology.
| One of the main tasks set by the leadership of our country is the transition to domestic equipment and software. The previous software used by us did not meet these conditions, therefore, within the framework of the import substitution policy, we chose domestic certified solutions. I believe that this is an important step in strengthening the technological sovereignty of Russia and the development of the scientific and educational environment in the region, as well as the opportunity for our institute to be at the forefront of digital transformation, "said Vladislav Potanin, director of the Nizhny Tagil Technological Institute (branch) of the Ural Federal University. |
| As developers of infrastructure software, we are pleased to realize that most Russian universities are switching to our solutions. Astra Group products are mature, not inferior to the software of foreign vendors and meet the requirements for software in educational organizations. I am convinced that by choosing our IT solutions and training projects, the Tagil university will have an additional opportunity to implement tasks as efficiently as possible within the framework of its activities, - said Roman Borisov, deputy commercial director for the educational sector of Astra Group. |
