2024: Standard Approval
The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) at the end of December 2024 approved a new unified standard for the production of computer equipment, replacing the previous document of 1986. The standard comes into force on January 1, 2025.
According to CNews, the document was developed by LLC "KNS Group" (Yadro) together with the Technical Committee for Standardization. The new GOST R 71784-2024 establishes modern requirements for security, labeling, packaging and interfaces of servers and personal computers.
Svetlana Mamontova, head of sector No. 2 of the PCT Agency, explained that manufacturers can follow the requirements of the new GOST or develop their own technical conditions if the standard does not provide for the features of their products and production process.
SNDGroup CEO Olga Kvashenkina clarified that the document introduces parameters for quality, performance and resistance to external factors, as well as a new testing methodology for detecting defects in the early stages of production.
Unlike the previous version of the standard, the new document takes into account the requirements for network interfaces, interaction with modern systems and electromagnetic compatibility. Arthur Kerefov, head of the Fplus rationing and standardization department, noted that the standard does not establish overly stringent requirements and will contribute to an unambiguous understanding of technical standards by all market participants.
According to Alexander Zhigalkin, rector of the Academy of Standardization, Metrology and Certification of Rosstandart, the new concept was developed taking into account international standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission, which is important for ensuring compatibility and certification of electronic devices in the context of international trade.[1]
