2024: Sale of Ulyanovsk plant to Promavtokonsalt
In January 2025, it became known that Promavtoconsalt acquired the Ulyanovsk plant for the production of cylinder heads and engine blocks for Volkswagen and Hyundai cars from the Mexican group Nemak. The transaction is fully completed.
The new owner has officially registered the property rights to the plant. Earlier, Promavtokonsalt already owned the Schaeffler production site in Ulyanovsk, which indicates the strengthening of the company's position in the automotive sector of the region.
According to the investment portal of the Ulyanovsk region, the Nemak plant, opened in 2015 in the Zavolzhye industrial zone, is a recognized manufacturer of high-tech aluminum components and a key supplier of auto parts for the Volkswagen concern.
Initial investment in the creation of the enterprise amounted to ₽4 billion. About 30% of the products produced were exported. During its operation, the total volume of investments in the development of the production site reached ₽2 billion, which made it possible to create modern high-tech production.
Nemak Managing Director Armando Tameza emphasized that when choosing a site for the location of production, the company was guided by the industrial potential of the region, the presence of a technical university and qualified personnel, as well as the developed infrastructure of the industrial zone.
The plant specializes in the production of strategically important engine components for the world's leading automakers. The production facilities allow to ensure high quality of products in accordance with international standards of the automotive industry.
After the change of ownership, the company will continue to produce auto components at existing facilities. The acquisition of the Nemak plant strengthens Promavtoconsalt's position in the automotive industry Russia and expands the company's production capabilities in the segment of high-tech auto components.[1]
