2024: Creation of the Library for the Bank of Russia website

QSOFT has created the Library for the Bank of Russia website, which houses 350,000 publications - both books and magazines, as well as audio and video materials. Qsoft announced this on January 13, 2025.

The objective of QSOFT was to develop a functional, convenient, modern site not only for Bank of Russia employees, but also for external users. A special feature of the project was the need to integrate the site with the Customer's internal portal and create a stable/efficient information exchange between the systems.

The Bank of Russia Library website is the largest collection on economics and finance: in the catalog of over 350,000 publications and documents. Among the publications there are both unique historical documents (the oldest is dated 1777) and modern books and magazines combined by the activities of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

As part of the work on the Library, it was necessary to follow not only the established GOST-34 - a set of standards for the development of automated systems, but also the high standards and provisions of the Bank of Russia prescribed in the SOW.

The technical complexity was the work with the RUSMARC library standard - part of the MARC group of standards, the Russian analogue of the international communication format UNIMARC, which was created to facilitate cataloging in Russian libraries.

RUSMARC shall unload the data from the Customer's system and transfer the data in solid text (publication categories, tags, title, publisher, year of issue, etc.). We designed a solution that converts solid text into structured information and puts everything in the right fields. QSOFT - first worked with the RUSMARC standard, so this part of the project was a huge challenge for us. To carry out the work, we worked closely with the developers of the Information and Library Complex - the EBNIT Association. The team successfully coped with the test, we will continue to work in this socially important project already at the technical support stage, "says Oleg Knyazev, director of QSOFT projects.

The site is already open for public use, a large catalog is available to visitors with unique publications that can be studied on the pages of the library. As of January 2025, visitors to the Bank of Russia Library website can read the book, listen to audio or watch videos from the library page, search for the necessary edition according to various attributes, including highlighting the found excerpt directly in the search results line. You can create thematic lists for selected publications. The user can also leave ratings and feedback on materials.
