2025: Central Asia Aviation Holdings купил Qazaq Air
Consortium Central Asia Aviation Holdings Limited, part of the Vietnamese Sovico Group, acquired the Kazakh airline Qazaq Air from the Samruk- Қazyna fund. TAdviser got acquainted with such data in January 2025.
According to Tengrinews, Kazasia Holdings Limited, nominated by Sovico Group for joint management of the carrier with Samruk- Қazyna, is also involved in the transaction. The final transfer of shares will take place after all preconditions agreed by the parties have been fulfilled.
Minister transport Kazakhstan Marat Karabaev said that the buyer undertakes to fully cover the debt of Qazaq Air in the amount of ₸38 billion and additionally register Kazakhstan 20 aircraft.
Investors plan to expand the carrier's fleet to 20 Boeing 737 Max 8 or Airbus A321 aircraft over the coming years. The company's development strategy is aimed at improving operational efficiency and ensuring long-term sustainability.
Qazaq Air, founded in 2015, has been certified to international IOSA safety standards since 2018. The production and administrative base and hub of the carrier are located at Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport.
In 2025, the airline will operate subsidized flights to seven domestic destinations. The route network includes flights from Astana Pavlodar to and Petropavlovsk, from Turkestan to and, Kostanay from Karaganda Zhezkazgan to Karaganda and Shymkent, as well as from Almaty to Kokshetau.
From December 28, 2024 to January 27, 2025, the company temporarily suspended the international flight on the route Astana - Yekaterinburg. The VietJet Air group involved in the deal has its own fleet of 184 aircraft.
The new owners intend to carry out a strategic transformation of the carrier, focusing on increasing the efficiency of operating activities and ensuring the sustainable development of the company in the Kazakh air transportation market.[1]
