Reg.ru has launched a secure storage service, tape DSS. The solution allows you to store large amounts of data ranging from tens of terabytes to several petabytes and protect information from cyber attacks and unauthorized access. The company announced this on January 23, 2025.

Tape storage is a device that records information on special cartridges of the LTO standard with magnetic tape. Information on tape media can be stored for up to 30 years without being overwritten. Each cartridge can hold 10 to 40 terabytes of data.    Tape DSS provides a high degree of security and isolation of information from cyber threats and network attacks. Unlike traditional cloud solutions, where data can be vulnerable to external interventions, tape media is not physically connected to an external network, which significantly increases the security and security of the IT infrastructure. If necessary, tape storage can be connected to a server or cloud.

Our solution not only isolates critical data from external threats, but also optimizes storage costs. A tape storage system is suitable when a business has a request - to store a lot and for a long time, and data is needed in close access infrequently: for example, confidential data, documents or records of system events. The library provides continuous data recording and scalability, enabling flexible storage growth as business needs grow.
