History

2025:

At the end of January 2025, the American developer of building automation tools ENGlobal announced that due to a ransomware virus attack, the company had lost access to its financial systems for six weeks. In addition, it is noted that during the invasion, cybercriminals penetrated the part of the ENGlobal IT infrastructure that contains confidential personal information.

Founded in 1985, ENGlobal Corporation develops and builds automated control systems used by commercial customers and the federal government. The company offers planning and design services for power facilities both in the United States and abroad. According to ENGlobal, it, among other things, specializes "in complex automation systems and measuring devices for the US defense industry."

It is said that the ransomware virus attack on ENGlobal began on November 25, 2024. The attackers encrypted the data, and therefore the company had to restrict employee access to IT systems and suspend a significant part of business operations. As of January 2025, no ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack on ENGlobal. The company has engaged external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident and address its aftermath. In addition, a notice of attack has been sent to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). There is no information about the estimated amount of damage.

The incident limited the company's ability to use business applications that support core aspects of operations and corporate functions, including financial and operational reporting systems, for about six weeks, ENGlobal said in a statement.[1]
