2024: Modernization of control and control systems
At power unit No. 5 of the Leningrad NPP, a project was implemented to modernize control and monitoring systems. The project was implemented by specialists of Rosatom Automated Control Systems JSC (RASU JSC), the management company of the APCS and Electrical Engineering division. Rosatom announced this on January 30, 2025.
A comprehensive upgrade of both hardware and software was carried out, which significantly increased the reliability and fault tolerance of systems. The tests carried out confirmed the stability of the new solutions to various operational scenarios, including communication breaks and equipment malfunctions. This provides a high degree of protection against potential risks.
The EN bus configuration, called EN-2, reduces the likelihood of system malfunctions through redundancy, which provides continuous data transfer and operational health recovery.
The work was completed as part of the planned preventive repair of power unit No. 5. The tests carried out, including the final fault tolerance control, confirmed the reliability of the updated system. The transition to a duplicated main bus is an important step in the development of control systems for Russian nuclear power plants, - said Dmitry Dimashov, chief designer, technical director of RASU JSC. |
According to Dmitry Marygin, head of the heat automation and measurement workshop of the Leningrad AES-2, the specialists of JSC RASU have done significant work on the development of design documentation and commissioning. Thanks to the professionalism and well-coordinated actions of the employees of CTAI LAES-2 and JSC RASU, the project was successfully completed in a short time and with a high level of quality.
