History

2025: Construction Begins

The volume of investments in the construction of the Northern Gate industrial park Kazan will amount to ₽88 billion. This was announced on February 7, 2025. Investment Development Agency Tatarstan The project received the approval of the investment council of the republic and is designed for phased implementation. Construction scheduled for 2026. The new industrial park will become one of the largest industrial sites in the region.

According to RBC, the decision to create an industrial park was enshrined by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan in November 2024 at the suggestion of the Ministry of Economy of the republic. A joint-stock company of the same name has been appointed as the management company.

The head of the Investment Development Agency of Tatarstan Talia Minullina noted that the project has passed all stages of coordination, including the definition of the site, financial scheme and legal structuring. The area of ​ ​ the park will be 202 hectares, its creation will provide 1,000 new jobs.

The key object of the Northern Gate will be the center for scientific research and scaling of technologies of the new generation of SIBUR, which will be located near the production sites of Kazanorgsintez. The center will develop new catalysts and materials, from laboratory research to industrial technology.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of SIBUR Leonid Mikhelson announced the creation of a center for research and development work in Tatarstan in August 2023, noting the holding's decision to concentrate all scientific developments in Kazan.

Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that the placement of the holding's scientific center in the republic will help increase the competitiveness of enterprises. The choice of Kazan is due to the developed scientific base and the presence of qualified personnel in the chemical industry.^[1]
