2024: Global Mobile Identity Systems Market Size Reaches $11.3 Billion for the Year

In 2024, the costs of the global market for mobile identity identification amounted to about $11.3 billion. This corresponds to an increase of 9% compared to 2023, when expenses in the relevant area were estimated at $10.33 billion. Industry trends are addressed in the Market Research Future survey published in mid-February 2025.

As digital payment platforms and online transactions evolve, consumers and businesses are looking for more robust identification methods to protect sensitive information, the study authors note. This trend is fueled by growing concerns around identity theft, database leaks and fraud. As a result, companies and organizations around the world are increasingly implementing additional security systems based on biometric authentications and encryption.

An important market driver is technological advances. Innovations in biometrics, including improved recognition of fingerprints, faces and iris, make mobile identification tools more efficient and reliable. At the same time, the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning expands the functionality of security systems and makes it possible to analyze data in real time. AI technology allows many functions to be optimized, making identification faster and more accurate, which is crucial for sectors such as banking, health care, and public services.

Cooperation between technology providers and governments also contributes to the expansion of the industry. In addition, the demand for mobile identification is growing in emerging markets, where the penetration of cellular communications, contactless payment systems and other modern services is increasing. Cloud-based identification solutions are gaining popularity: this deployment model provides good scalability, low initial costs, and ease of access.

The report highlighted five key market segments: biometrics (fingerprint recognition), QR code scanning, NFC, facial recognition and voice recognition. In 2024, the first type of systems provided revenue at $4.5 billion, while scanning QR codes brought in $2.2 billion. The NFC segment accounted for approximately $1.8 billion. The contribution of face and voice recognition tools is estimated at $2.3 billion and $0.5 billion, respectively. Significant players in the global industry are named:

In 2024, North America was leading from a geographical point of view, where costs reached $4.5 billion: the dominance of the region is due to technological advances, high indicators of the introduction of mobile identification tools and a significant concentration of large IT companies. Europe is in second place with an estimate of $3 billion: here the industry is stimulated by tightening regulatory requirements for cybersecurity. The Asia-Pacific region closes the top three with an indicator of 2.5 billion. South America secured a contribution of $0.7 billion, the Middle East and Africa - $0.6 billion.

Market Research Future analysts believe that in the future, the CAGR in the market under consideration will be approximately 9.44%. Thus, by 2035, costs on a global scale could rise to $30.49 billion.[1]
