FLIR Systems – works at the rena of design and production of means of thermovision control and observation for a wide range of application. The company makes thermal imaging cameras and thousands of FLIR Systems thermal imagers are used around the world for non-destructive testing, an energy audit of buildings, scientific research, developmental developments, protection and observation, sea navigation, night driving and many others.

FLIR Systems is 8 plants located in the USA (Portland, Boston, Santa Barbara and Bouzmen), Sweden, Estonia and France. Representative offices are open in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, the UAE, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Great Britain and the USA.

In the company more than 3200 employees - specialists in the field of thermovision work. FLIR Systems services the markets of the world through the international distributor network providing regional sales and support.

Design of cameras, software development and production is performed in three directions: military projects, products for the systems of thermovision observation of civil appointment and industrial thermal imagers.

History

2021: Teledyne Technologies purchased Flir Systems

On January 4, 2021 the American industrial conglomerate Teledyne Technologies announced purchase of the producer of the Flir Systems thermal imaging cameras. The cost of the transaction was $8 billion or $56 counting on one stock of the sold company that is 40% more than an average quotation rate for 30 trading sessions at the exchange.

Under the terms of the agreement, Teledyne will pay purchase with own money ($28 for each taken share Flir) and actions (0.0718 counting on one security). More than a half of the amount ($4.5 billion) is the credit taken especially for execution of the transaction which is going to be closed in the middle of 2021. Annual revenues of the united company are stated in $5 billion.

Teledyne Technologies purchased Flir Systems

As notes the SiliconANGLE edition, merge of Teledyne and Flir marks consolidation of the industry of Internet of Things. Both companies make touch IoT-devices, including thermal imaging cameras. Teledyne technologies can be found in the industrial cameras used for control of production processes and also in satellites and dental x-ray devices.

The patented production technologies of sensors are the cornerstone of products of both of our companies — the executive chairman of Teledyne Robert Mekhrabian says. — Our business models are also similar: each of the companies provides to clients sensors, cameras and sensor systems. However our technologies and products it is unique supplement each other with the minimum overlapping as in them the image sensors based on different semiconductor technologies for different lengths of waves are used.

The Bloomberg agency reports that after the statement for sale of Flir of a stock of the company rose in price for 24% that was not since September, 2001. At the same time the quotations of Teledyne sank for 8.6%.[1]
