2025: Using a Trusted PAC Digital Grid Twin
Flant and NRU MPEI signed an agreement on technological cooperation to carry out a study on the creation of a trusted software and hardware complex (PAC) "Cloud platform of the digital twin of the energy system" in accordance with Government Decree No. 1912. The study is carried out on the basis of the Center of NTI MPEI "Technologies for the transportation of electricity and distributed smart power systems." Flant announced this on February 19, 2025.
The basis for the study was the Digital Twin of the Power System software complex, developed by specialists from the NTI MPEI Center. The complex provides real-time calculation of electrical network modes and provides cloud service for users. Flant provided the Deckhouse Kubernetes Platform for the project and a license to use it.
As part of the study, a trusted solution is being developed that will be based on domestic technologies, including Deckhouse Kubernetes Platform. The project is aimed at improving the reliability of power systems management, including analyzing the consequences of operator actions before their implementation in the real network, compliance with information security requirements and the possibility of using the solution at real critical infrastructure facilities.
When choosing a technological partner, the presence of security certificates of the FSTEC of Russia and readiness for productive interaction with the scientific community became the determining factors. Deckhouse Kubernetes Platform is a ready-made solution that allows you to focus on the main task of research, minimizing the time spent on integration and configuration. "Flant," providing the platform, made a great contribution to achieving the goals of the scientific and applied work, - said Vladislav Karpenko, Ph.D., head of the cybersecurity laboratory of electric power facilities at the NTI MPEI Center. |
Containerization opens up opportunities to create a flexible and scalable infrastructure. It is especially valuable that the most modern technology was chosen to implement the digital twin in the power. By providing our research platform, we support the development of science in the country and demonstrate the capabilities of Deckhouse Kubernetes Platform in critical areas where reliability and safety requirements are especially high, "said Alexander Titov, General Director of Flant. |
The complex under development is already used in the educational process of NRU MPEI. Students gain practical experience with the "Cloud Platform of the Digital Twin of the Power System" when studying the operating modes of power systems, electromagnetic and electromechanical transients. Also, when ordered by educational institutions, industrial companies, remote access is issued to work with the complex being developed.
