2025: Implementation of Automated Workforce Cost Planning System

EVRAZ, together with MOLGA Consulting, has implemented an automated personnel cost planning system. This was last reported on March 11, 2025.

The main objectives of the project were:

• Automation of personnel cost budgeting processes;
• Ensuring transparency and uniformity of planning;
• Reduction of labor costs;
• Integration of interacting systems;
• Providing managers with the necessary operational and analytical information to make management decisions.

Within the framework of the project, a unified planning methodology was developed by the teams of the customer and the integrator, more than 70 algorithms unified calculations of planned accrual types were set up for 20 scenarios on different planning horizons, including moving periods. The planning module accounting system used by the personnel service was also integrated with the existing accounting and analytical - software financially economic divisions, which allowed the participants in the budgeting process to work in a single digital space.

Thanks to the implemented system, it was possible to achieve standardization and unification of the process of planning the number and costs of personnel at the main EVRAZ enterprises, as well as a 50% reduction in labor costs for creating plans, preparing reports and conducting a plan-fact analysis for various planning scenarios. The results also allow EVRAZ to improve the quality of budget planning and control.

In preparation for this project, we initially set very ambitious deadlines and tasks. We had to overcome many problems and tasks in unifying planning processes, integrations and implementation of reporting forms in  our BI system. And it seems to me that we made a five-year plan in two years. I am very proud of this project and the team that implemented it, - said Natalya Shcheglova, Head of HR-tech EVRAZ.

Personnel costs occupy a significant place in the cost structure of any enterprise. In geographically distributed production enterprises, planning itself is a labor-intensive process, and it is extremely difficult to ensure its quality, uniformity, compliance with unified methodological requirements and scenario conditions without proper automation, "said Sergey Nikitin, First Vice President of MOLGA Consulting.

It is planned to further develop the project - the stage of replication of the tested methodology and the technological advantages gained to other EVRAZ enterprises has begun.
