2025: Implementation of Zvirt and Nova Container Platform

The Modum-Trans company has strengthened technological independence by introducing two Russian solutions for the developer of infrastructure POOrion soft - the zVirt virtualization system in conjunction with the Nova Container Platform containerization system. Orion soft announced this on March 17, 2025.

Modum-Trans is an operator of railway rolling stock, a service partner of key industrial shippers, producers of coal, cement, fat and oil and chemical products. The company is actively implementing advanced IT solutions for managing cargo transportation processes, including developing its own digital services that help increase the profitability of the logistics business.

The company's IT infrastructure is based on a software stack from a foreign vendor. As part of the initiative to develop technological independence from foreign solutions, Modum-Trans decided to switch to its Russian counterpart.

At the same time, the company saw a trend in the market: a microservice approach to development is spreading in the IT infrastructures of large industry players, the number of microservices themselves and, as a result, containers are growing. In this regard, Modum-Trans decided to start introducing containerization technology.

The integration of zVirt and Nova Container Platform has become a separate plus for Modum-Trans, as it allows you to flexibly manage both virtual machines and containerization clusters. Thanks to this, the company can seamlessly implement containerization, while using the resources of the virtualization platform as efficiently as possible.

Cooperation with Orion soft will allow us to further close two tasks at once: import substitution and adaptation of the IT landscape to the changes that are taking place on the market. We wanted to be prepared for the fact that the use of microservices in the future will become a common practice, so we decided to start introducing containerization with the help of an expert vendor. Orion soft specialists helped us migrate to Russian solutions, conducted training for employees. Further, we plan to increase the number of microservices in the IT infrastructure and develop our own expertise in the field of containerization, since we see that this technology is becoming more and more in demand, "said Andrei Gorkunov, head of the information technology department of Modum-Trans LLC.
