Oteko modernizes IT infrastructure with zVirt

Oteko is introducing the Russian zVirt platform to safely manage the virtualization environment. The Orion soft developer's solution will ensure the technological independence of key OTEKO business processes. Orion soft announced this on April 3, 2025.

OTEKO is a private investor in the port and industrial infrastructure of southern Russia. On the Taman Peninsula of the Krasnodar Territory, the company created a world-class industrial-port hub, expanding the southern corridor of Russian exports.

When choosing an IT infrastructure development strategy, OTEKO assessed the limitations associated with the use of foreign products. The need to migrate to a domestic solution was determined by such factors as lack of technical support, security issues and the impossibility of scaling foreign software for business tasks.

OTEKO specialists conducted comprehensive testing of five Russian-developed virtualization platforms.

When choosing a solution, not only quantitative characteristics were important for us, but also ease of implementation, quality of technical support and a convenient interface that turned out to be the most understandable and similar to the interface of Western products that we are familiar with, "said Nikolai Bliznyuk, Head of the Information Computing Infrastructure Department and Alexey Pakhotin, Head of the IT Infrastructure Development Department of OTEKO. - The platform from Orion soft has demonstrated maximum compliance with all requirements, including the quality of project support. The response time of technical support to requests is about 20 minutes, and all tasks are worked out in real time with constant interaction with the vendor's specialists.

The project is of particular importance in the context of large-scale OTEKO development plans. They include the construction of a production complex on the Taman Peninsula. As part of scaling the IT infrastructure, it is planned to increase server capacity several times: from 6 to 28 racks at the Taman site and from 4 to 12 racks at the Moscow office.

At the current stage, OTEKO is implementing a backup modular data center project, where zVirt is also used as a virtualization platform. The new data center for 6 racks of server equipment ensures the operation of duplicate infrastructure services of the company.

The successful implementation and use of zVirt in ECEC confirms the platform's readiness to operate in conditions of increased requirements for stability, safety and reliability. It is also important that the customer can independently deploy the solution and scale the infrastructure to meet changing needs.
