2025: Equipment Supply in Power Distribution and Automation

Systeme Electric provides complex supplies of equipment in the field of electricity distribution and automation to the Irkutsk Polymer Plant. The first polyethylene pellets from imported raw materials were produced in December 2024 during commissioning. Systeme Electric announced this on April 7, 2025.

The Irkutsk Polymer Plant is the first plant in Eastern Siberia to produce polymers from ethane, which will be provided with its own raw materials. It is part of the gas chemical cluster, whose work is aimed at creating a system of enterprises for the production, preparation, transportation and processing of gas into a product with high added value. The project is being implemented by the Irkutsk Oil Company (INC), one of the independent producers of hydrocarbons in Eastern Siberia.

The plant will become one of the most environmentally friendly and safe in the country. The plant has a closed water circulation. All wastewater will undergo multi-stage treatment and disinfection at treatment plants, after which it will return to the water circulation cycle for use in production. 5 water storage facilities will be involved in the water supply system. The use of atmospheric precipitation will prevent the discharge of storm runoff into the reservoir and at the same time reduce the volume of water intake from the Lena River, which will be carried out according to the residual principle. In addition to creating 1,600 new jobs, the launch of the plant will be an impetus for the development of the northern territories.

The comprehensive supply of products and technological solutions of System Electric will allow maintaining reliable power supply to the main production sites of the Irkutsk Polymer Plant, as well as all UIO facilities, including warehouses, a nitrogen station, an oxygen workshop, a fire station, pumping and water intake facilities.

As part of the project, System Electric sent a batch of Systeme MVnex air-insulated switchgear cells developed taking into account energy efficiency and safety requirements to the facility. In total, more than 100 cells of this type were delivered for the enterprise, equipped with terminals BMRZ-150 manufactured by the Mechanotronika research and development center, performing the functions of relay protection and automation in networks with a voltage of 6 to 220 kV.

In addition, SystemeMeters TM thermal monitoring systems are involved, which will be integrated with low and medium voltage equipment manufactured by System Electric. By the end of 2025, it is planned to supply more than 20 SystemeMeters TM systems, which will ensure continuous monitoring of the condition of the equipment and prevent the occurrence of emergency situations.

Earlier, System Electric supplied the plant with a low-voltage complete SystemeGear device designed for power distribution and providing a high level of safety at large facilities, industries low-voltage and medium-voltage power equipment, including SystemePact ACB air circuit breakers and SystemPact CCB cast-case circuit breakers, as well as SystemeVar frequency converters.

Three-phase uninterruptible power supplies of the Uniprom series will provide power supply stability at the production sites of the Irkutsk Polymer Plant. Devices are easy to set up, operate and maintain, and up to 96% efficiency ensures predictability of energy costs.
