2024: Comprehensive IT Landscape Transformation: The Transition from 1S:UPP to Modern 1C:ERP-based Architecture

Project Objectives and Objectives

The goal of the project is to create a flexible, modern and sustainable external environment automation system that allows you to effectively develop and accompany information technologies in the company.

Key project objectives:

  • Implement a scalable configuration that adapts to future changes.
  • Ensure regular and unimpeded updates as required by law.
  • Review and optimize existing business processes with a focus on the use of standard functionality without significant improvements.
  • Significantly accelerate the preparation of management reporting and increase the transparency of data for decision-making.

The project solved both strategic and tactical tasks: the transition to a new generation platform and at the same time improving process efficiency, reducing IT load and simplifying support.

The situation before the start of the project

For more than a decade, the company has used 1C: Manufacturing Enterprise Management, supported and developed by its internal IT department. However, due to the large number of unique improvements, the configuration turned out to be difficult to update, which made it difficult to comply with the requirements of the law, in particular - labeling, integration with GIS, and other modern standards.

In addition, the UPR architecture did not allow the full use of new platform capabilities, 1C:Enterprise 8 such as modern mechanisms analysts and data exchange, which constrained the development and manageability of the company.

Solution Architecture and Project Scale

Architecture: the project is built on the basis of the classic three-link architecture: data server databases and application server are located on the same physical server, users connect through thin clients. This ensures stability, centralized update management, and reduced user hardware requirements.

Project Scale:

  • Simultaneous operation: 220-250 users

Organization of the structure:

  • The main business processes are automated in a single information base.
  • Personnel accounting and payroll calculation are implemented in a separate database 1S:ZUP KORP.
  • Synchronization between databases is implemented by typical exchange through files.

Project uniqueness and innovation

The project was especially difficult due to the company's multi-industry activities:

Each direction required an individual approach to automation, including:

  • Maintaining Responsible Storage
  • Preparation of tender documentation
  • On-the-fly cost calculation

Key features of the project:

  • Maximum retention of typical functionality with minimal customization
  • Division of the project into two stages: critical minimum and further development after stabilization
  • Optimal launch planning: January is a conditionally "calm" period in the industry

Key achievements:

  • All business areas are switched to the new system without failures
  • Successful transfer of balances to the main accounting blocks
  • Restoration of regulated accounting and reporting on time
  • No Configuration at All 1S:UPP

Business Results:

  • Significant acceleration of management reporting
  • Increase process transparency
  • Increasing user loyalty to the system through a clear interface and standardized workplaces
  • Reduce IT support costs

The project was a strategic step in the digital development of the company, ensuring technological readiness for further growth and adaptation to new market requirements.
