2025: Vehicle TFT Display Launch

In May 2025, METTEM-M announced the launch of the first production of instrument combinations in Russia with a full-screen TFT display for commercial vehicles. The project was implemented within the framework of the import substitution program with financial support in the form of a grant from the Agency for Technological Development.

According to the press service of the agency, until May 2025, Russia did not have its own production of such devices, but now the Moscow company has successfully reverse-engineered and launched the production of modern instrument panels. Instrument combinations provide the driver with important real-time information about the condition of the vehicle, including speed, engine speed, fuel level, and other critical parameters.

Production of TFT displays for cars launched in Moscow

The project started in 2022, when the Agency for Technological Development organized a competition to choose a contractor for reverse engineering of a combination of devices with a TFT display. The winner was METTEM-M, a company specializing in the design of electronic equipment.

In the process of implementing the project, the company's engineers developed the design and body elements, an electronic unit and basic software. All components passed the comprehensive tests provided for in the terms of reference, which confirmed the reliability and operability of the new instrument panels.

Upon completion of the development, the design documentation was transferred to the Agency for Technological Development. In parallel, METTEM-M received an examination act confirming the Russian origin of the instrument combination with a TFT display, which made it possible to start industrial production for automotive enterprises and car service companies.

Olga Gubeidulina, President of METTEM-M, noted that despite the apparent simplicity of the product, the team of engineers faced the need to ensure the possibility of its manufacture in accordance with the requirements of localization of production, as well as to achieve accurate compliance with the parameters of technical documentation and trouble-free operation during the regulatory life.[1]
