2025: Status of the first official drone port in Russia

In May 2025, the Fluffy airfield, located in the Korsakovsky district of the Sakhalin region, officially received the status of the first drone port in Russia. For the first time in the history of the country, the Federal Air Transport Agency approved the air navigation passport of the landing site, designed exclusively for the operation of unmanned aircraft.

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the regional government, the Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko announced a significant event for the region at a meeting of the regional government. According to him, the Sakhalin region is the only region in Russia where flights of unmanned and manned vessels in the same airspace are allowed. At the Fluffy drone port, all the necessary conditions have been created for the operation of drones of various types and the testing of advanced solutions in the field of unmanned systems.

The assignment of a new status to the Fluffy airfield was the result of the systematic work of the regional and federal governments, as well as the Aurora group of companies, including the Aurora-Unmanned Air Systems division. The work on the preparation and legalization of air navigation information of the drone port was carried out by the Center for Air Navigation Support of Flights, which has many years of experience in comprehensive support of aircraft flights in the Far East.

General Director of Aurora-BAS Dmitry Tretyakov stressed that the creation of the Fluffy drone port will allow specialists to expand the range of services, increase their geographical coverage and contribute to the development of the island economy by optimizing logistics, monitoring territories and solving other problems using unmanned technologies.

The move marks a shift from point projects to a full-fledged infrastructure for regular and safe drone flights, forming the basis for integrating drones into the country's existing transport system. The successful experience of the Sakhalin Region can serve as an example for other regions of Russia interested in the development of unmanned aircraft.[1]
